_______________
The Dogo Argentino is an established breed in South and Central America and Europe. They are shown, used in hunting and kept as companions. The Dogo Argentino Club of America (DACA) is working towards AKC recognition of the breed here in the U.S. However, this will take some time since the Dogo Argentino is still very rare here in the States. The Dogo Argentino as a rare breed can be shown in Rare Breed shows and Fun Matches that allow rare breeds and in exhibitions at some AKC shows. The DACA has a point system set up for conformation championships, obedience titles, and tracking titles.
The Dogo Argentino is an unspoiled breed used by hunters throughout South America for big game. Many of the Dogos in Argentina are hunted on Saturday and shown on Sunday. They are superior family dogs and they are especially fond of children. The following is a quote from the book, "EL DOGO ARGENTINO" written by Agustin Nores Martinez. 'II have seen my old Kob of the Pampas, hunter of many wild boar, who had fought dozens of times with adult pumas in the mountains, his head and body bearing the scars of his struggles, several times at the point of death, endure patiently the most irritating teasing of children, without showing anger, snarling, or the least intent to bite."
The Dogo Argentino with their short white coat, dry mouth and lack of body odor make ideal housedogs. They are intelligent and can be trained to do almost any job. The are not hyper and love to be close to their family. The Dogo stands apart from other large hounds in his striking appearance and in the unique combination of complete submission and docility to his family and indomitable courage and strength in the face of any danger. Please keep in mind that the Dogo Argentino is a hound and as a hound he genuinely likes people. He is not suspicious of all comers, unless of course they come in though a window at 2:00 A.M., his role in the family is that of a guardian, a companion who will react to a direct physical threat to his people.

About us:
Rankin Dogo Kennels was established in February of 1994.
We are located just South of San Antonio, Texas
___________

We are avid hunters and dog lovers as well.
As dog lovers we have found the breed we expect to have in our lives for many years to come. Of all the breeds we have had over the years, the Dogo stands alone at the top of our list. They possess an amazing concern to fulfill their master's every desire. This is one of the things that make them a very trainable breed. The Dogo, after realizing his appointed task, will perform outstanding feats and come back eager for more. They are also surprisingly quick and agile for such a large breed.
As hunters of over forty years, we first became interested in the Dogo in 1993 and bought our first Dogo in February of 1994. In a very short time we were fascinated enough with the breed to locate and purchase three females and soon went to work breeding and training for our future hunting and breeding program.
That was over six years ago, and since then we have raised and trained several Dogos that we are currently hunting throughout South Texas. As of the last time I updated my Dogo hunting log we have captured over twelve hundred head of wild hogs with our Dogos.

_______________

AII of our Dogos have proven to be successful hunters and great family dogs. I would also like to point out that our Dogos are not "dog aggressive". We are actively involved with the D.A.C.A.'s efforts to enhance and protect the purity of this magnificent new breed, insuring the future of the Dogo in its true form. We are also proud to have the opportunity to continue to refine the Dogo's hunting abilities and carry on the excellent work of the Martinez brothers, the creators of the Dogo.
Consistent with the other D.A.C.A. Breeders, all of our puppies are hearing tested and all carry a written health guarantee. Our Show/Breeding prospect puppies are priced from $1,000 depending upon the individual puppy. Our Companion Quality puppies are of the same quality as their more "showable" littermates. They have the same breed characteristics and have received the same love and care. They are offered to those who desire a beautiful Dogo as an integral part of the family. All of our Companion Quality Dogos are sold on a Spay/Neuter agreement. We withhold the registration papers until we receive a letter from the owner's vet stating that the male has been neutered or the female spayed. Our Companion Quality puppies are priced from $800.00 depending upon the individual puppy.
We sometimes have young adults available to approved homes. Prices will vary according to quality of the individual dog and the amount of training time invested.
