I hope this will provide readers with a little insight as to what the Dogos and hunters are up against when we hit the woods. If there is anyone that would like to know more about Monteria, look for future articles here in the Dogo Domain or contact Jo-Anne or myself. I am in the process of compiling live video footage of our Dogos In action. This may be a difficult task considering the complexities involved with this sport. However, I am hoping to complete the tapes and make them available to D.A.C.A. members in the future.
I would like to dedicate this article to my father and friend Leroy Rankin, who is celebrating his fifty-sixth birthday today, August 25, 1994. Without his knowledge and skills as a woodsman, it is not likely that I would be involved with Dogos or even hog hunting. He is responsible for putting me and others around him in a position to enjoy this unique pastime known is South Texas simply as 'hog hunting."
Thanks Dad, and Happy Birthday!
CREDITS AND SPECIAL THANKS
I would like to extend a special thank you to the following;
Jo-Anne and Don Carty: for the warm welcome they gave us as new members to the club, and assisting me with everything I asked and more. Also for having the patience to guide us through the early stages of the Dogo world.
Ricardo Vidal: for all of the helpful insight and guidance he has provided us over the last few months, and for going out of his way to assist me in building the foundation for what is the start of an honorable Dogo Information Portfolio.
Dehbie Stidhan: for allowing me the opportunity to share my experiences with the readers and the help she has been in the process.
My Sister Kim, Uncle Ken, Cousins Lee, Lance, and Scott: for contributing to the hours spent on this article, and much more.
Philip Owen: for getting us started in the Dogo world, and for sharing with me the result of his two years of research on the Dogo breed.
Rick Taylor - Texas Parks & Wildlife Department: for providing technical data and illustrations.
The D.A.C.A. and it's entire staff: last but not least, for their support and being there for all of us.
